City of Hope needed a secure way to store and use research data. Previously, CTS-like large-scale cancer epidemiology studies collected, analyzed, and shared cohort participant data in a siloed and restricted fashion that lacked a secure, central managed and collaborative way to use the data for additional research or analysis.
In partnership with Sherlock, City of Hope deployed a modern data management solution, based on the Data Lake architecture; and a secure and shared workspace with documentation, software, and analytic tools that facilitate collaboration and accelerate analysis.
Together, City of Hope and Sherlock built an evergreen data platform that transformed data collection, storage, and reusability for high-impact research for CECs. The project increased security, governance and efficiency while also reducing ongoing research costs.
“Sherlock Cloud is entirely HIPAA- and FISMA-compliant, meaning the Sherlock team has specific experience providing the type of data security that our CTS Data Mart and research require. Our partnership with Sherlock will modernize the long-standing CTS project through Sherlock’s innovative data management solutions, which will make the California Teachers Study an example for other studies like this.”
